"UKEit volume uno" the cd: buy it!
After the première at the Vicenza Festival, here comes the cd of Italian ukulele "UKEit volume uno". This cd is produced by Istituto Barlumen and gathers 22 artists "obliged" to choose songs either from the Italian music repertoire or to compose original ones, using the ukulele and not using guitars! Also, "UKEit volume uno" is not afraid of mp3-download: the artwork alone (by Sergio Ponchione and Pietro Malacarne) is worth the price. You find it here and here.
Big success in Vicenza for the First Italian Ukulele Festival on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th July. James Hill and Anne Davison amazed the 500 people of the audience as well as the astonishing duo Bosko & Honey from Australia. The afternoon workshops run by James Hill for adults and by Fabio Calabrò for kids resulted in about 50 people buying ukuleles and actually playing it. The Italian Ukulele players showed their talent on Friday with a three-hour show in front of 350 people at least.
Look forward to next year.
The ukulele is the instrument of the 21st century. It is small, easy to play, low cost, and ecological: everything that’s ‘in’ now and that should always be ‘in’. The goal of UKEit is to create an original Italian ukulele scene, tstarting with those who have already mastered the instrument, working in the live scene and making records, as well as welcoming other artists from all sorts of musical backgrounds to experiment on the four strings.
UKEit will become a festival and a CD, both of which dedicated to the ukulele. The cd is going to be sung in Italian only and produced by Barlumen Records.
